About the role
At true, a Product Strategist is responsible for translating our client's business challenges and goals into a set of strategic recommendations that guide the way we design and build digital products.
It's a deeply collaborative role, working hand-in-hand with our talented cross-discipline teams of UX researchers, designers, creatives, analysts and technologists.
Within this role, you will report into the Head of Strategy and expect to work on a wide range of projects, including multi-million pound ecommerce platforms, complex corporate digital estates, customer portals and creatively-led brochureware sites.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Discover phase of a project to help understand the client's challenge. That might involve facilitating client workshops; conducting competitor and industry benchmarking; reviewing or commissioning primary research; mapping out technological opportunities and limitations; analysing performance data.
- Lead the Define phase of a project to provide a strategic brief to the agency. That will involve shaping a proposition for a digital product; defining relevant audiences and user groups; writing user stories and documenting requirements for our design and development team; establishing a measurement framework to evaluate effectiveness.
- Own a Product Roadmap that guides ongoing optimisation projects. in collaboration with the product team, you will make sure there is a clear and well-informed direction for the products we build and that we invest in areas that create the maximum value for our client's and their users.
- Own effectiveness on a project. You will make sure there is a clear story around the value we create and that we track, report and act on the metrics that represent success.
- Support marketing and new business efforts. You will be involved in pitches, making sure we have a strong narrative around a potential client's challenges, and contribute towards the creation of true's case studies, awards entries, whitepapers and events.
Your experience
- You have at least 5 years' experience working in a digital agency or technology team; either in an explicitly strategic role or in a more technical role but with a desire to move into strategy.
- You are passionate about the potential for technology to improve the way brands engage with their customers and enjoy working with likeminded specialists in other disciplines.
- You are adaptable, able to work on large complex digital estates as well as simple brochureware sites, and shape your approach accordingly.
- You have good experience working with enterprise-level content management systems and digital experience platforms, ideally including Umbraco or Optimizely.
- You are commercially minded, able to grow our client engagements through consultative selling techniques and deliver work in a consistently profitable way.
- You are a strong analytical and strategic thinker; able to to analyse data, identify insights and spot opportunities that unlock greater value for the agency and our clients.
- You are a strong communicator, both in writing and in person. You are comfortable leading a workshop of senior stakeholders, can present succinct and compelling stories and write clear and engaging long-form written content, like business cases, reports or whitepapers.
- Some experience of planning or delivering digital marketing activity - including SEO, CRO, digital advertising or email marketing would also be useful.

- Hybrid: like the rest of our team, this role will be based in our central Bristol office for at least seven days per month, as this creates the kind of working relationships that allow us to do our best work.
