Could you be our next Account Director?

We’re looking for someone ready to lead client relationships with confidence, curiosity, and commercial awareness

Richard McCloskey
Richard McCloskey - Managing Director

At true, our best work happens when we’re embedded in our clients’ world: understanding their challenges, acting as a trusted partner, and helping solve real business problems.

As an Account Director, you’ll lead day-to-day client relationships and account activity across a portfolio of clients, helping shape account roadmaps, identify growth opportunities, and ensure clients see real value from our work by aligning to real business outcomes, while working closely with senior leadership on major commercial decisions and longer-term planning.

Why this role exists

This role is key to helping us deepen client partnerships, bring more strategic direction to our accounts, and support sustainable growth. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and delivery leads, escalating where needed.

What you’ll be doing

Client leadership & partnership

• Lead the day-to-day client–agency relationship across your accounts, building trusted relationships with key stakeholders and senior contacts where relevant
• Develop a strong understanding of each client’s business, priorities, pressures, and success measures, and use that context to help teams understand the value and outcome behind the work
• Keep client communication clear, consistent, and proactive

Strategy & account direction

• Develop account plans and contribute to roadmaps aligned to client goals, turning priorities and agreed next steps into clear plans with input from senior leadership where appropriate
• Interrogate and challenge briefs where needed, translating client needs into clear internal direction so teams understand the outcome the work needs to achieve
• Support account reviews by tracking progress, client satisfaction, opportunities, and commercial performance

Commercial management

• Manage account performance against agreed revenue forecasts and targets
• Contribute to commercial discussions on renewals, scopes, and contracts, escalating key decisions to senior leadership where appropriate

Team leadership & collaboration

• Support and inspire cross-functional teams across Delivery, Experience, Product and Engineering, acting as the link between client stakeholders and internal teams
• Contribute to coaching, feedback and day-to-day guidance for account and project team members where relevant

Growth & new business

• Identify and progress opportunities to expand or deepen client engagement, bringing fresh, commercially relevant ideas to existing accounts and new business conversations
• Help communicate the value of our work through client reviews and future growth conversations where relevant

What success looks like

• Clients see you as someone they trust and rely on, not just a delivery partner
• Work is aligned to agreed objectives, delivers clear value, and is supported by practical account roadmaps that progress against agreed goals
• Teams are clear on direction, delivering high-quality work, and spotting opportunities early so they can be progressed effectively or escalated where senior input is needed

What we’re looking for

Experience

• Experience managing and leading digital accounts, programmes or platforms within an agency, consultancy, or digital delivery environment, with a track record of building strong client relationships and contributing to account growth
• Experience collaborating with senior colleagues on account strategy, commercial planning, or client development would be beneficial

Capability

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including confidence in collaborating with senior client contacts and building trust at all levels of a client organisation
• Strong commercial awareness and confidence managing account-level forecasts and revenue
• Able to translate client needs into clear, actionable work
• Confident working across multiple projects, teams, and shifting priorities

Approach

• Strategic, commercially aware, and outcome-focused, with a clear point of view on client and internal conversations
• Calm, organised, and able to prioritise effectively
• Curious about digital, technology, client industries, and market trends
• Willing to challenge constructively and follow agreed actions through

You don’t need to have operated at a Senior level already. This role would suit someone who is confident leading client relationships, commercially aware, and ready to broaden their strategic and growth impact with the support of an experienced senior team.

You’ll thrive here if you…

• Are comfortable contributing across client strategy, delivery, and commercial conversations
• Take a proactive approach
• Care about outcomes, meaningful work, and measurable impact, not just activity
• Are curious about clients, industries, and how things work
• Lead with confidence, clarity, and integrity

What you’ll get

Growth & development

• Real responsibility from day one
• Opportunities to broaden your impact and leadership capability through real project experience

Flexibility & ways of working

• Hybrid working model, with core hours and flexibility around how you structure your day

Health wellbeing

• Private healthcare (including mental health support)
• Wellbeing initiatives and Active Teams programme

Financial & security

• Salary range of £50,000–£57,000, depending on experience
• Pension with employer contributions
• Life assurance cover

Culture & environment

• Regular team socials and events
• Monthly agency meetups
• Supportive, collaborative team culture

Ready to apply?

If you can build strong partnerships, lead client relationships with confidence, and create meaningful outcomes for clients, we’d love to hear from you.
